Saniya Assembek
Motion Designer
Hi, I'm Sani! Originally from Kazakhstan, I made a ninja backflip from an Engineering degree to follow my passion for the intersection of art and technology. In May 2024 I graduated from the MFA program in Computer Arts at SVA in NYC, where I worked on a 2D & 3D motion graphics thesis about the transformative power of music. Even after graduation, I persist in refining my technical skills through certified character animation programs, such as those offered by AnimSchool.

I love staying connected and involved in creative communities. Volunteering at events like SIGGRAPH and Real-Time Summit keeps me updated with the latest innovations. I'm also a proud member of Women in Animation (WIA) and Asians in Animation (AIA), where I actively support inclusivity and diversity initiatives. As someone born and raised in Central Asia, I find joy in challenging societal norms, traditional expectations, and gender stereotypes. What truly motivates me about animation is its unique power to evoke empathy, establish connections with viewers, and surpass cultural and linguistic obstacles.

Off-hours, I go to Broadway Dance Center and enjoy Contemporary Jazz Dancing classes!
